Islamic Religion

By Mia Fiore p. 5

When you hear about Islamic Religion, you may think of all the stereotypes. Islam has been considered a religion of cruelty, oppression, and brutality. It is much farther than that, Islam is the most growing religion in the world, and is right now the second largest religion with 1.3 billion followers. It was created in 622 CE by the prophet Muhammed a trade merchant from Arabia. Marji does connect a lot to the islamic religion. She really backs up her religion, going against her parents to go to a demonstration, but she doesn't like to be pushed into her religion, she likes to follow it on her own terms. Marji seems to be very faithful to her religion, yet doesn't like being logo.jpg pushed into wearing the veil. Some followers of the Islamic religion are only faithful to a couple of the five pillars of practice in Islam. These practices must be undertaken with the best of effort in order to be considered a true Muslim: A) Shahadah: declaration of faith in the oneness of God and that Muhammad is the last prophet of God. B) Formal prayer five times a day. C) Fasting during the daylight hours in the month of Ramadan. D) Poor-due "tax": 2.5% of one's savings given to the needy at the end of each year. E) Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once, if physically and financially able. Islamic religion is most definitely not cruel at all. Islam means "Peace through the submission of God", persepolis_5.2.jpg
and most religion followers want everyone to believe that they are not cruel, they want people to believe that. Though there are 1.3 billion followers, not all of them are faithful to everything. As seen in the picture, some characters in Persepolis are faithful to the veil, and some characters are more faithful to their freedom.
